MY SECRET TO FEELING YOUNG BY SHEILA MAJID
Even after 30 years into my career, I still feel and move as young as I first started. And as I grow older; I learned to embrace the changes - both physically and mentally. Want to know what’s my secret? Here are a few ways how I keep myself feeling young.
1. REST, RECHARGE AND REJUVENATE
Getting enough sleep is probably one of the simplest ways to feel younger. I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep daily and it doesn’t only make me feel fresh the next day, I perform better as well! If you do it for an extended period of time, you’ll feel like you have more energy and you can also wave bye-bye to dark circles.
2. KEEP MOVING
You don’t have to do extreme exercises or go to the gym every single day. But it’s good to exercise and stretch those muscles at least three times a week. Even when I have a very busy schedule, I try to find time to do pilates. After each session, I always feel good and rejuvenated. Find a physical activity you like doing and stick to it.
3. REINVENT YOURSELF
Most of us need reinvention, and not just once, but multiple times in a lifetime. It’s not because there’s something wrong with your life, but it’s because we never stop growing, our surrounding changes from time to time, and we simply have to find ways to keep up. I’m perfectly happy with everything I have now, but I constantly find new goals to achieve. Never be afraid to dream a new dream.
4. BRAINS NEED WORKOUT TOO
It’s like exercising, but for your brain. It’s very important to do brain exercises as it may delay cognitive decline and improve your memory as well. When I travel from one place to another, I do crossword puzzles or Sudoku in the car. When I’m at home, I play games that stimulate the brain with my family.
5. NUTRITION IS KEY
Since we’re not able to locate the Fountain of Youth anytime soon, the next best thing we can do to stay young is by eating nutritious food. I try to make sure I get a balance meal all the time. This helps my body get essential nutrients it needs to stay fit and healthy. So, try eating healthy and make sure you have a balance diet.
